Should the measures provided in the troubleshooting process (updating the driver, port/cable replacement, solution to OS problems) prove futile, it becomes likely that the USB device or the USB port is damaged. Try out the device on a different computer. Failing once again, the controller chip of the USB drive could be repaired or replaced by professionals.
