What homework mistakes am I probably making as a parent? Want to make sure I'm actually helping, not hurting.

Oh man, we all make these mistakes! This is super eye-opening https://www.talentedladiesclub.com/articles/four-homework-mistakes-parents-need-to-stop-making-right-now/ about common pitfalls. The big ones: doing the work FOR them instead of guiding, hovering constantly which prevents independence, expecting perfection rather than effort, and not communicating with teachers when struggles persist. We were totally guilty of the hovering thing - realized we were creating learned helplessness. Now we have a "ask three before me" rule: check notes, Google it, ask a cla###mate, THEN come to us. Homework should build independence and problem-solving, not dependence on parents. Also learned to let natural consequences happen occasionally - forgetting an a###ignment teaches responsibility better than us constantly reminding. It's hard to step back but necessary!
