Title: Anyone tried getting an Audi transmission fixed in Sharjah instead of Dubai?
Post by: frostRider14 on May 11, 2026, 11:28 AM
My 2013 A7's ZF 8-speed has started flaring between 4th and 5th gear, and the Dubai dealership quoted me over 15k for a replacement. I've heard that Sharjah often has more affordable labor rates for transmission work, but I'm nervous about quality because I don't want to end up with a botched rebuild that fails again in six months. A friend mentioned that finding the Best Audi Transmission Sharjah Workshop (http://auditransmissionrepair.ae/) takes some research, but once you find a shop that specializes in these ZF units, you can save a ton. Has anyone here actually gone that route and had a good experience? How did you verify they knew what they were doing with the mechatronic and the torque converter? I'm willing to drive from Dubai if it means halving the repair cost, but not if it means constant headaches later. Appreciate any honest recommendations or warnings from people who've been through this. Thanks.

Sharjah is definitely worth considering. Just make sure the shop has specific experience with ZF 8-speed units, not just general transmission work.

15k from a dealership for a replacement is way too aggressive without proper diagnosis first. A specialist might fix it for a fraction of that cost.

Flaring between 4th and 5th on ZF units is usually a valve body or fluid pressure issue. Get a proper diagnostic before agreeing to any rebuild or replacement.

I'd ask the shop directly if they have ODIS or ISTA diagnostic capability. Any serious Audi specialist will have it, that's your quickest way to filter out the guessers.

Drive from Dubai is totally worth it if you find the right place. Just verify they've handled ZF 8-speeds before and ask to see previous similar jobs. A confident specialist won't hesitate to show their work.
