Hi everyone. Moving from Mаssachusetts to Florida in the spring and I am completely lost on how interstate pricing works. Some companies quote by weight, others give a flat number, and one wanted to do a video survey before quoting anything at all, which felt like the most professional approach and also the slowest. What exactly is a binding estimate, and how worried should I be about the delivery window? I keep reading about people waiting weeks for their belongings to turn up.
A binding estimate means the price is locked against the inventory you agreed, so it does not move unless you add items to the load. That is the one you want. Non binding means the final number can climb, and that is where most of the horror stories come from. The company doing a video survey is doing it properly, so do not hold the extra half hour against them. Ask for the delivery spread in writing and what happens if they miss it. Spring is easier than summer for this route, so your timing is already working in your favor on price.
