I've been using the same mechanical keyboard for about 5 years now and some of my switches are finally getting that scratchy, worn-out feel. Before I drop money on a brand new board, I'm wondering if it's worth investing in switch replacements instead. Has anyone here gone through the desoldering and soldering process themselves, or is it better to send it out to a professional? What switches would you recommend for someone who does a lot of typing work and doesn't need RGB gimmicks - just smooth, reliable performance on a budget?
