Title: Comparing Glazing Options
Post by: Ybrayan on Jul 28, 2026, 06:50 PM
After a cold winter, we're finally upgrading the windows in our cottage, but I don't want to choose something generic just because it's easier. One of the installers mentioned bespoke gla### and sealed units, which sounds interesting. Can you recommend somewhere with examples of different designs and installations so I can get a better feel for the options?

Went through exactly this last January after our cottage windows practically wept through the cold spell. Nearly went with the cheapest standard units out of sheer exhaustion, but a mate who'd done a similar reno years back sent me a link - examples of bespoke gla###work (https://www.ambgls.co.uk/gallery)  - and seeing the actual range of finishes there stopped me rushing into it. There's a leaded cottage window example that looks almost like ours, which helped me picture how the frames could stay in character while the gla### itself did the heavy lifting on insulation. Ended up going custom in the end and haven't looked back, especially now winter's creeping in again. Definitely worth browsing before you settle for whatever's quickest to install.
