Is Rust Actually Worth Learning in 2024?

I've been hearing constant hype about Rust for the past few years, but I'm wondering if it's just another programming trend or genuinely the future. The learning curve seems brutal compared to Python or JavaScript, and I struggle to see where I'd actually use it in my day job as a web developer. That said, I keep reading about major companies adopting it for performance-critical systems and even the Linux kernel incorporating Rust code. Has anyone here made the jump to learning Rust? Was it worth the time investment, or would those hours have been better spent elsewhere?
