I'm considering a DIY move with a ramp and straps. By the time I buy a wheel chock and factor in extra gas, is it better to just hire a pro? I don't want to risk bottoming out my bike on a tailgate.

DIY towing can be cheaper only for short distances if you already have the necessary equipment, but once you factor in the cost of a ramp, wheel chock, straps, and extra fuel, the savings often disappear. For longer trips, hiring professionals is usually more cost-effective and much safer, especially if you're worried about damaging your bike while loading or transporting it.
