Has anyone else ditched their smart home?

I've been doing a lot of soul-searching lately about my smart home setup, and honestly, I'm considering ripping most of it out. Everything is constantly losing connection, the apps are bloated and slow, and I'm tired of worrying about privacy every time I ask Alexa something. At this point, I think I'd rather just flip a light switch manually than deal with another firmware update that breaks everything. Am I crazy, or is anyone else feeling this way about the whole smart home trend? I'd love to hear if people have found setups that actually work reliably without all the headaches.
